Mary Jane Fennimore's Obituary
Mary Jane Fennimore, 89, a 52 year resident of University Place, passed away October 8, 2005, in Bothell, surrounded by family. She was born August 27, 1916 in Casper, Wyoming, to George and Mary (Hergert) Appel. At the age of two, her family relocated to Colfax.Mary Jane was a graduate of the Colfax High School class of 1935. She and her husband, Gene Fennimore of LaCrosse, remained in the Colfax area until 1941 when they moved to Pomeroy and later to Walla Walla where Gene was Regional Supervisor for the Washington State Game Department. They remained in Eastern Washington until 1952 when they moved to University Place.Mary Jane coached several girlsÂ' sports teams, and helped with various Boy and Girl Scout groups. She was also an active member of the University Place Elementary School PTA. Mary Jane was a member of the LemonÂ's Beach Orthopedic Guild and University Place Presbyterian Church.Mary Jane enjoyed bowling and golf. She also enjoyed traveling with Gene after his retirement in 1970. Together in the kitchen, Gene and Mary Jane spent many hours canning and freezing the bounties of his garden. She was also known as a wonderful baker, and she loved sharing her holiday cookies.Her greatest love was her family. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother. She received much joy attending her grandchildrenÂ's school, church, and sporting events. Mary Jane was also a supportive friend and neighbor.She was preceded in death by Gene, her loving husband of 59 years, in 1998, as well as three brothers, and one sister.Survivors include her son, Douglas (Jackie) Fennimore of Vader; daughter Beverly Palmer of Redmond; grandchildren Lisa (Josh) Von Moos of Adna, Cynthia (Keith) Warner of Edgewood, Gregory (Deana) Palmer of Bothell, Geoffrey (Adria) Palmer of Federal Way, and Kasie (Sean) Jordan of Redmond; great-grandchildren Jonathan Gubbe of Seattle, Matthew Gubbe of Lacey, Laura and Kristin Warner of Edgewood, Tasha Leyton of Bothell, and Karlee Von Moos of Adna; brother George Appel of Colfax; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.Memorial donations may be made to the beauty and cancer program at the University of Washington Medical Center, Service League.Viewing will be held 1:00 Â- 9:00 PM, Friday, Oct 14, 2005, at Mountain View Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM, Saturday, Oct 15, 2005, at the University Place Presbyterian Church, Pastor Lyn Corazin presiding, followed by a reception. Private interment will be at Mountain View Memorial Park.
