Mary Louise Jackson Ross' Obituary
Mary was born in Birmingham, Alabama, on September 22, 1932. She came to Tacoma as child in the early 1940s with her mother, Edna Jackson (nee Boling), who came to Washington to work during World War II. Mary’s father, Hasty Leonard Jackson, a mechanic, had come to the state earlier. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1950. She soon met and married Jesse Bernard Britt, of Washington, D.C., who was then stationed at McChord Air Force Base. The couple had three children. The marriage ended in divorce. Later, in the 1960s, in Tacoma, Mary married Frederick Marion Ross, of Galveston, Texas. That marriage ended in divorce as well.
Mary Louise leaves behind daughters Teresa Britt Price and Deborah Britt, of Washington, D.C.; son DeLance Britt and daughter-in-law Teresa (Cummins) and grandson Samuel Britt, all of Seattle; her brother Michael and sister-in-law Ella (James), of Tacoma; nieces Yasmeen Donohue and Miesha Jackson, nephews Jessy and Malcolm Ray, 9 grand-nieces and -nephews; and her 2 beloved dogs, Sweetie and Lulu. This family, and her place in it, was everything to Mary. The world is suddenly empty without her.
