Mary Ann Gillam's Obituary
Mary Ann Gillam, daughter of the late Arthur and Carrie Lee Gwyn was born on October 14, 1944 in Mt. Airy, NC. She departed this life on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at her home surrounded by loved ones.
She was very active in church at an early age where she sang in the Youth Choir and later the Senior Choir. During her high school days she was a very good basketball player where she played guard. After high school she moved to Atlanta Georgia where she worked for Life of Georgia Insurance Company and later the Board of Regions in Atlanta. Mary left Georgia and moved to Tacoma to be with her sister (Mollie) and brother-in-law (Louis Mitchell) where she met and married the love of her life John Gillam. On February 14, 2019 they celebrated 32 years of marriage.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory, John Gillam, her devoted husband, step daughter Monica Manning who lives abroad. Two sister Rachel Carter of Mt. Airy, NC, Mollie Mitchell of Tacoma, WA, three brother Joe Gwyn of San Diego, CA, David Gwyn (Betty) of Raleigh, NC and Jerry Gwyn of Tacoma, WA, a devoted sister-in-law Deborah Gillam. A host of nieces and nephews who loved her vary much.
