Marvin L. Scott's Obituary
Marv Scott, who was probably best known for his life-long love of baseball, was born to Bert and Alpha Scott in Winthrop, Washington, on July 6, 1920, and passed away on February 21, 2005.Marv graduated from Stadium High School, then attended WSU until WWII, when he served as a Lieutenant j.g. in the United States Coast Guard. Marv played professional baseball both before and after the war. He graduated from University of Puget Sound and began teaching civics and economics and coaching baseball and basketball at Stadium High School in 1947. He then moved to Woodrow Wilson High School when it opened in 1958. Marv had a profound effect on the lives of many of his players and students.Marv became a full-time scout for the New York Mets in 1967, after many years of part-time scouting for the Chicago Cubs, St. Louis Cardinals, Detroit Tigers and New York Mets.Marv was preceded in death by his fist wife, Johanna, brothers Gerald and Cecil Scott and sisters Edith Link and Maxine Williams.He is survived by his loving wife, Mary of 15 years, daughters; Leslie Scott, Sidney Scott, Dana Theis and Shelby Rothstrom, his grandchildren Tara Sewell, Hannah Rothstrom and Jordan Rothstrom, his stepchildren Larry Lucich, Mary Jane Wathen and Marlene Hertel and their children James Lucich, Jonathan Lucich, Tiffany Lucich, David Wathen, Theresa Bryant, Katie Wathen, Danny Wathen and Eric Heblich.If you would prefer to make a charitable donation in lieu of flowers, please send contributions to: Shanaman Sports Museum, 9908 63rd Avenue, Ct.
