Marvin Carl Vann's Obituary
Marvin Carl Vann, a 33 year resident of Pierce County, passed away at the age of 54 on Sunday, October 6, 2002. Marvin Vann was a native of Homewood, Alabama, where he was born June 12, 1948. He served in the 724th United States Air Force Band at McCord Airforce Base before graduation from the University of Puget Sound as a music teacher/band director.Marvin was a musician in the Tacoma area for several years. He played bass guitar, tuba, and string bass. He played Big Band, Dixieland, and Jazz. He was a band director for the Puyallup School District and the Steilacoom Historical School District. Marvin retired from the Steilacoom School District.Marvin is survived by two sons: Morgan and Marcus Vann, grandmother Rosa McNeil, four brothers, Lofton H. Vann, Walter S. Vann, Anthony Vann, and Donald Norris, three sisters, Joyce Bolden, Rosa Watson, Annie Vann, four aunts, one uncle, nieces, nephews, and friends. Viewing will be Friday, October 11, 11AM Â- 9PM at Mountain View Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, October 12, 2002, 11AM at Covenant Celebration Church, 72nd and Portland Avenue. Interment will be Tuesday, October 15th at 10:30 AM at Tahoma National Cemetery, Kent, Washington with military honors.
