Marvin B. Dillashaw, Jr.11/14/1935 ,- 2/9/2003Our loving son, brother, father, papa, uncle & friend passed away gently and peacefully in his sleep the morning of February 9.Big Marv was preceded in death by his loving wife Carol J. Dillashaw on April 14, 2002 after a long battle with cancer.Born and raised in Parker, Arizona. He graduated from Sunnyside high school in 1953.After his graduation ceremony, he left home to pursue his love of travel and the first of his career ambitions, long-haul trucking.Feeling the call of his country and the love of flying, he joined the USAF where he earned the rank of Tech.Sgt. serving 4 years.After his honorable discharge, he met Carol and they married after a brief courtship, settling in Tacoma, Washington where they raised two children, Marlene & Marvin III.Pursuing the love to serve he joined the Tacoma Police Department, his police work included such accomplishments as Union President of the Honor Guild, youth guidance, school patrol program and member of the Clan Gordon Pipe band.After concluding a 14 year police career with a medical retirement, he began his courses at Clover Park Tech College. Obtaining his A & P. and private pilot licenses that began his 15 year career in the aerospace industry ending as a lead supervisor in the engineering department.He was a member of the GWRRA, often participating in the Lawman 1000. His hobbies included woodworking, clock making, travel and study of Indian art and culture.After retirement Marv, Carol and ,"Fred," the parrot became snowbirds, traveling in the RV throughout the US.He is survived by; mother Elizabeth(Monty)Montague, brother Rex(Terry)Dillashaw, daughter Marlene(William) Russell, son Marvin(Teresa)B. Dillashaw III, granddaughters Angelina and Alisha Keselburg of IL and Amy, Kristy and Kendra Dillashaw of Federal Way, sisters Patricia(Robert)McKinnon of NC and Jacqueline(Michael)Springer of University Place, uncle Thomas P. Smith, many nieces, nephews and cousins.At his request there will be no funeral service held.Celebration of Life Open House , February 22, 1-5 p.m.Teresa & Marvin Dillashaw,'s house--35514 39th Ave S.
