Marie A. Purnell's Obituary
Marie A. Purnell
Together Again
Born in Tacoma, WA on August 21, 1918 to Fred and Katherine Vogel. Passed away January 20, 2017 after suffering a stroke.
She met the love of her life Clifford R. Purnell, Sr. while working as a bookkeeper for Columbia Sausage Co. They married on May 3, 1941 and together had 3 children, Marguerite (Glenn) Callender, Kathleen (Kurt) Murphy and Clifford (Nancy) Purnell, Jr.; 8 grandchildren, Steven and Scott Callender, Brian, Stuart, and David Shipley, Nicholas, Krista and Kelly Purnell and 9 Great-Grandchildren.
When mom had kids she became a fulltime homemaker and helped dad with his business. She was a Brownie leader, member of Eastern Star and Daughters of the Nile, and they had belonged to Comus Dance Club for many years.
Dad preceded mom in death, passing away November 19, 1984. She was also preceded by her brothers Fred and Harold Vogel and her parents.
In her later years she truly enjoyed a trip to the casino where she did pretty well.
We would like to thank the wonderful caregivers at Tacoma Lutheran Home for their outstanding care of our mother. They were awesome.
In lieu of flowers if desired please send donations to the Tacoma Lutheran Home in her memory.
A Funeral Service will be 12 pm Friday, January 27, 2017 in the Mountain View Garden Chapel.
