Marian Violet Marriott's Obituary
Marian V. Marriott went to be with her Lord, March 3, 2015. Marian Violet Marriott was born in Fellows, California on Feb. 12, 1923 to Vinnie and Alexander Ellis. She was the middle child to her siblings, all deceased; Mel, Mildred, Martin, and Marie. Her sibling’s children and grandchildren honored Marian with their love and many visits. Her younger sister Marie's husband, Ray Martin is still a vital part of Marian's family and their daughter Kandis is like another daughter. Marian lived most of her young life in Graham where she grew up and was schooled….her first job was working for her father ‘s business, a butcher shop and gas station in Graham. Marian married Emden Marriott (Red)) and together they raised 4 children, Erven Marriott, (Sherri) Pt. Angeles, Wa; Raymond Marriott, (Sharon) Guthrie, OK; Carolyn Jones (Bob) Ocean Shores, WA; and Bette Radtke, Silverdale, Wa. They adopted a newborn baby, David, who died in a school bus accident at age 11. Together they mourned, but more importantly the rejoiced that they had the opportunity to be a part of David’s life.
From these 4 children have come 10 grandchildren and spouses: Tamora Brown, (Tom); Kimberly Lightner (Steve); Deborah Metzener; Rob Jones (Tomoko); Michael Jones (Kathy); Tim Marriott,(Sharon); Lynn Whitaker,(Dave); Dave Marriott, (Lisa); Lee Marriott,(Kelly); Kiersten Marriott,(deceased). Not to exclude two very important neighbor girls who became their adopted granddaughters, Denise Malloy and Janelle Brinson.
Twenty two great grandchildren followed: Shane Krona,(Misty); Allen Hanson; Shayla Lightner; Curtis Lightner, Phillip Lightner; Seth Whitmore; David Whitmore; Zachary Jones,(Kat); Kaiya Jones; Tiana Jones; Cadence Jones; Leland Jones; Alexander Jones; Kyle Marriott; Ian Marriott, Chelsea Marriott; Chloe Whitaker; Caleb Whitaker; Cayden Whitaker; Callie Whitaker; Elias Marriott; and Connor Marriott.
Four great great grandchildren born to Zachary and Kat Jones—Reyna, and Noah; and Shane and Misty Krona—Lawrence and River.
Celebrations, particularly Christmas, were always a big thing to Marian and a well attended event.
Marian, alongside her husband, Red spent most of their married life on a farm in Graham. Horses, cows, goats, chickens, cats, and dogs abounded. Baseball games were played in the cow pasture and years later, most of the grandchildren spent part of their summer riding horses, swimming in the pool, going to church and traveling to the beach with their grandma. Lifelong friendships developed between the cousins because of this!
In 1984, Marian and Red moved to Ocean Shores, built their dream home down by the jetty…..where, again, the family gathered. It became “the destination!”
After a long life, well lived, Marian became the prayer warrior for the whole family and her friends. She shared her strong faith with all of her family…..we as a family all KNOW we will see her again one day!
A celebration of life will take place at the Galilean Chapel, where Marian and Red were members, in Ocean Shores on March 28th, 2015 at 2:00 pm. There will be a simple reception afterwards. If wished, please make donations in her behalf to the Galilean Food bank.
