Margaret Lucille Elliott's Obituary
Margaret Lucille Elliott did not live to see her 100th birthday as was her wish, but she lived her 97 years with gusto, spunk and an ever-positive attitude about everything. She was a wonderful role model for all who knew her. Margaret passed away Feb 24, 2008 in Tacoma, WA. She was born 11-21-1910 in Cheyenne, Wyoming. The family lived in Pocatello and Payette, Idaho and Tacoma, WA. In 1917 they moved to Port Orchard where Margaret had many fond memories growing up. She graduated from Kitsap High School in 1929, PLC(now PLU) in Tacoma in 1932 and from the University of Washington in 1945. She began her teaching career at Wildwood School in Port Orchard. She also taught at Pleasant Ridge School in Poulsbo, at Navy Yard City School and was so proud to have taught 29 years at Manette School in Bremerton. Margaret was a member of the retired Teachers Association, Mountaineers, & Camp Sealth Alumni -"Black Bloomer Bunch. She was active with the Camp Fire Girls at Camp Wataka, Camp Sealth, Camp Zanika Lache on Lake Wenatchee, and Camp Kirby in Bellingham. She also volunteered at the Tacoma Girl Scout camp.Margaret had a contagious love of life. In retirement her passion was to travel, attend the Seattle Opera and Ballet, Bremerton Symphony and Bremerton Community Concerts and go anywhere whenever she could. She spoke fondly of her many lunches with her retired teacher friends and her numerous outings with the Mountaineers. Preceding her in death were her parents Lon & Winnie and brother Franklin. She leaves behind to embrace her legacy her niece Joann Conklin, Joann's children Cheryl and Ricky and Cheryl's son, Nicholas, cousins Doris Tengesdal, Vern Williams & Don Elliot. Margaret also leaves many other cousins and life-long friends. Dear Margaret, we will miss you!The family would like to thank Manor Care's Heart's Desire Program for making possible Margaret's last outing -"a trip over the New Narrow's Bridge, which she thoroughly enjoyed. We also wish to thank the Franciscan Hospice team for their loving care. Suggested memorials for Margaret may be to the Manette History Club, Mountaineers, or Franciscan Hospice. At her request there will be no service. Her ashes will be buried next to her parents at Mt View Cemetery in Tacoma. Please share your memories on the online guestbook at www.mountainviewtacoma.com
