Margaret Louise LaPlanteMargaret Louise Shannon was born June 11, 1908 in Mason City, Iowa to Harry and Edith Shannon. Â"MaggieÂ" grew up in the north end of Tacoma and attended Stadium High School. She passed away March 1, 2003 at Hallmark Manor in Federal Way, Washington.Preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 51 years Royal Anthony LaPlante and her brother Lester Earl Shannon, Margaret is survived by her daughter Betty Louise Larson (Warren) and her son Royal Anthony LaPlante, Jr. (Joanne Corfman), six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.The LaPlante family lived in Richmond, California in the late 1920Â's, coming home to Tacoma to reside at Salmon Beach during the 1930Â's and 1940Â's, followed by a few years living in Port Orford, Oregon. Maggie and Roy returned to Tacoma to operate the Crescent Heights Grocery until retirement.Margaret was a beautiful lady, a caring and loving listener for her family and friends.As a widow Margaret maintained her red house near the corner of Browns Point Boulevard and McMurray Road, enjoying gardening, painting, and senior pinochle games until 2002. A memorial service will be held March 5th at, 4PM at the Mountain View Garden Chapel.
