Reflections of the Life of
Rev. Major Lee Whitten, Sr.
Major Lee Whitten, Sr. was born to the loving parents of Lee Bertha Fleming and the late Rev. Major W. Whitten in the beautiful city of Tacoma, WA on April 15, 1950. On the morning of August 1, 2019, he answered the call of his Master.
He lived most of his life in “The Evergreen State” of Washington where he attended McCarver Elementary-Junior High School and later graduated from Stadium High School.
He served “Honorably” in the United States Air Force during the years of 1972 - 1979. While serving his country, he was blessed to meet and marry his soul-mate and to their union five children were added.
As a teenager, he was ordained as a Deacon. After accepting his calling, he was later licensed and ordained as a Minister. He started running for Christ and worked diligently on the “battlefield of the Lord” for the rest of his life.
He was a faithful and loved employee of the Veteran’s Hospital and the University of Washington Hospital until the Lord called him home.
He was preceded in death by his father, Rev. Major W. Whitten; his oldest sister, Pearl Ellison; and half-brother, David “Sonny” Conyers.
He is survived by: his wife of almost 45 years, Linda; mother, Mrs. Lee Thomas; five children, Kendra, Major Jr., Samuel (Amy), Debra, and Gabrielle; six grandchildren, James, Dominic, Jeffrey, Kieshawn, Matthew, and Samantha; four brothers, Lavell Whitten, Kenneth (Elva) Whitten, Alfonzo (Peggy) Whitten, and Junior (Kenya) Thomas; five sisters, Virginia Boggs, Bobbie Whitten, Gloria (Archie) Dansby, Toney Allen, and Willie Duplessis; half-sister, Jean Harris; three aunts, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, co-workers, and friends.
