On the morning of January 22, 2023, Fr. Louis V LeDoux of Lakewood, WA, died at the age of 96.
Fr. LeDoux was born in 1926 in Lake Charles, Louisiana, to Peter Louis and Gastonia Petrie LeDoux. He was the second of five children. He attended the Seminary of the Society of the Divine Worde in Bay Louis, Mississippi for his pre seminary studies and then attended Grand Seminaire in Montreal (Quebec), Canada. He was ordained a Catholic priest in 1952 by the Diocese of Lafayette, Louisiana. His first parish was St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Port Barre, Louisiana, where he served as pastor.
In 1956 Fr. LeDoux made a career change when he joined the United States Air Force as a Chaplain. As chaplain he served in various capacities to include senior installation chaplain and Headquarters Air Force Reserve Command Chaplain. His worldwide assignments included Okinawa, Republic of Viet Nam, England, France. His states side assignments included California, Virginia, Georgia, and Washington. His accomplishments and devotion to the airmen he served earned him numerous awards to include Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star, and the Meritorious Service metals. He served for 32 years and retired as a full Colonel.
Fr. LeDoux is survived by one brother, Nathaniel LeDoux, and will be remembered by nieces, a nephew, and several cousins, friends, and parishioners.
Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, March 8, 11AM, St Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, Lakewood, WA, followed by interment at Tahoma National Cemetery, Kent, WA, at 1:30PM.
