Fr. LeDoux officiated, without hesitation, at a funeral service for a young pilot killed flying freight over the Cascade mountains one night.
The family, (Father and Step Mother) were without religious affiliation. The Father struggled to maintain his composure all during the arrangements. When I suggested Fr. LeDoux I didn't mention his Military background but I did tell Fr. LeDoux the young man was a pilot.
When the service began, Fr. LeDoux walked in in full dress Air Force uniform complete with silver eagles on his shoulders. The feelings of respect for the young man and his parents was so palpable in that service and it was all due to the compassion Fr. LeDoux had in his heart. I was the funeral director for that service and I cried.
Many years later I crossed paths with Fr. LeDoux SeaTac airport. He remembered my name and we had a lovely conversation. To this day, I still tell that story. I will always consider it a privilege and an honor to have known him.
