Lory R Kalles' Obituary
Lory Kalles, age 91, was born May 17, 1922 in Puyallup, WA. He went home to be with the Lord on July 31, 2013.
Lory was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Char Kalles, in 2008. Lory is survived by his only son, Mike (Karen) Kalles, his granddaughter, Jenny (Ryan) Ford, step-grandchildren, Gina (Tony) Profitt, Chelle (Jay) Oakley, 7 great-grandchildren, brother Harlen Kalles, sister, Harriet Smallwood, and many nieces and nephews.
Lory served in the US Army during WWII and traveled to many countries throughout the world. He often talked about his experiences driving the tanks during the war. When he returned, he worked for Hooker Chemical until he retired. Retirement didn’t last long, as he was soon back to work doing what he did best, helping others. He went to work for American Medical Response Ambulance, and then spent the rest of his career serving God and people at the former Puyallup Assembly of God/Destiny Christian Center.
Everyone that knew Lory would know he was recognized for his strong crushing handshakes and hugs, his powerful prayers, and his outgoing personality! Lory knew how to pray for just about anyone. Lory spent his life serving the Lord and others. He lead countless people to know God, prayed for thousands, helped saved lives spiritually and physically, and was a hero to many. Earth lost a mighty man of God; Heaven gained an angel (and an awesome piano mover). Lory will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and church family at Puyallup First Assembly/Destiny Christian Center, whom he cherished greatly.
A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, August 15th, at 2:00 PM at Mountain View Funeral Home in Lakewood, WA. A memorial service will be held in the Aspen Chapel, followed by a graveside service
Arrangements by Mountain View Funeral Home.
