I have great memories growing up with Loren, church, school, birthdays, and fishing. We had wonderful times that don't seem so long ago like going to fish off the docks at Pt Defiance, and fishing at American Lake. Of course we didn't harass Carlene or Judy (Olson) at all. Time and distance can't erase these memories. My heart felt prayers go to his family that in time you find comfort; gone, but not forgotten and loved.##imported-begin##Col Gary and Lana Wood##imported-end##
Deepest condolences on your loss. Though it has been many years since we last connected, I still have fond memories of your loving family. I was surprised to read Loren grew up on North 11th - I lived at 11th & Verde for my 1st 5 years (1949-54), we might have been neighbors!! Who knew! :)
Blessings to you all.

Lois and family,
I know it's been a long time since we've spoken. Do you remember getting together with Karen and I one time many years ago? I don't remember what we did, but I do remember going to an apartment you lived in over by the Tacoma Mall. Don Larsen first told me of Loren's illness a while back. Then, after some time had passed, I heard he had been healed of the cancer. I was very happy to hear of Loren's recovery. A couple of days ago I was reading through the paper and saw the notice of Loren's passing. It made me sad to think of your loss and also the fact that I didn't take the time to spend some time with Loren both when he was and wasn't ill. So many times we go about our daily lives and forget about the friends that were such a big part of our lives when we were younger.
I have many fond memories of the times I spent with Loren during out high school and college age years. He got me my first real job working for White Front in the sporting goods department. We had so much fun working there together. We often gave each other discounts on "damaged" merchandise. And then there were the fishing trips we took in the bay where he always caught fish and I didn't. We liked to go up to the mountains on occasion and hike and shoot our rifles. I remember his 59 black Chevy Impala with the "348". He always seemed to drive a little over the speed limit and on three occasions we were pulled over for speeding. Two of those times were in Tacoma and when the officer came to Loren's window he would hand them his license and registration and say, "My dad is going to be really upset with me when he finds out about this." "So why is that, son," the cop would say. "Well, my dad is Larry Belsvik." "Oh is that right?" "Well then, Loren, you better slow it down and just this time I'm going to let you off with a warning."
I was always impressed by this until the time he tried it on a WSP cop. The cop just laughed and said, "Yes, I'm sure your dad will be upset when I give you this speeding ticket."
I also remember playing lots of bumper pool in the basement of Loren's house in the North End. And I remember some double dating as well.
Loren was one of the ushers in my wedding, too.
It's such a small world that while on vacation at Lake Shasta with Don and Janice Larsen, I met your son who had come along with Jon as a guest. I think I probably told him some of the stories about his dad.
Even though it's been a long time since we hung out together, I will always consider Loren one of the best friends I ever had in life, and I hope to see him again someday in a better place where we can renew our friendship. God bless you and your family.
