Lois Evelyn McKay's Obituary
Lois passed away peacefully in her home in University Place following a long battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents William A. and Bertha Robblee and by her brother William H. Robblee.Lois attended school in Tacoma, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1946 and the University of Washington in 1951 with a degree in education. While at the U of W she was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. She taught school at Sumner High School, DuPont, the Military Dependents School in Kaiserslautern, Germany and retired after 20 yrs. at Curtis Junior High School. During her time in Germany she enjoyed traveling throughout Europe, visiting every country on the continent. It was during this time she met her future husband, Gene, an officer in the U.S. Army.She will be dearly missed by her husband of forty-seven years, Gene McKay; her son Thomas McKay (Leslie) of Kent; her daughters Kathryn Risa (Steve) of Bellevue and Laurie DeLorey (Dean) of Boise, ID; eight grandchildren Allison & Erik Risa, Sean & Rachael McKay, Kyle, Madeline, Megan, McKayla DeLorey. Survivors also include her sister Margaret Patterson; nephew John Patterson (Gail); nieces Jane Hawkins (Tom), Patty Olin, Linda Robblee, a large extended family and numerous friends and associates. A memorial service will be held Wednesday April 9, 2003 at the United Church in University Place, 3912 Grandview Dr. W., University Place at 2:00 P.M. Viewing will be Tuesday April 8, 2003 from 1 P.M. to 9 P.M. at Mountain View Funeral Home.In lieu of flowers the family suggests remembrances to the Franciscan Hospice, 1717 South J St., Tacoma, WA 98405 or the Cancer Support Group at St. Charles Borromeo Parish, 7112 South 12th St., Tacoma, WA 98465
