Lloyd W. Hamilton, Sr.'s Obituary
Lloyd W. Hamilton, Sr. 81, of Tacoma, Washington was called home on May 23, 2016. He was born on August 6, 1934 to Harold and Bessie Hamilton in Iola, Kansas. He moved to Washington as a young child and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1952. While attending Lincoln he was a student leader and on the wrestling and pep teams. Lloyd was also in the Forestry and Rifle Clubs.
Lloyd served his country in the United States Air Force as a military policeman from 1952-1954 where he spent time stationed in Saudi Arabia. After serving his country Lloyd came back home to Washington and while working as a bouncer at the Old Mill Dance Hall he met the love of his life, Doloris. Lloyd and Doloris married on October 17, 1958.
Lloyd was a competitive flat-track motorcycle racer and enjoyed trips on his motorcycle with his wife to gamble in Reno. He was quite the dancer and it was magic to see him lead his wife around on the dance floor. Lloyd loved dogs and spent a lot of time spoiling not only his dogs but all of the dogs in the neighborhood. The time he cherished most though was the time he spent with his family and friends. Most of all he adored his wife and told everyone he met how much he loved her and how beautiful she is.
Lloyd was very proud of the 28 years he spent with the Tacoma Fire Department. He started with the Tacoma Fire Department in 1961 and retired as a Battalion Chief in 1989. He loved being a part of the brotherhood and cherished the memories of time spent serving his community alongside his fellow fire fighters.
Lloyd is survived by his wife of 57 years Doloris, his 3 sons, Frank Hamilton (Natalie), Mike Hamilton (Diane), Lloyd Hamilton, Jr. (Ginny), and 2 daughters Janis Card (Clarence) and Denise Caple, 11 grandkids,16 great-grandkids and 5 great-great grandkids. He is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, and his best friend Zane Miller. Lloyd was the type of man who made everyone he ever talked to feel special and was a grandpa to many more.
A celebration of Lloyd's Life will be held on Friday, June 3, 2016 at noon in the Valley Chapel at Mt. View Funeral Home with a reception to follow in the Oak Room.
