I have so many memories of Lloyd. Since his death, memories keep popping into my head. I was 6 years old when he married my mom’s sister, Doloris, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Tacoma. He did indeed love my aunt and let everyone know it. They had a lot of adventures over the years. Lloyd and Doloris loved going to dances with my parents. In the early days, they went to the Old Mill Dance Hall in Puyallup. Later, they went to dances at the Catholic church near my parents’ house and to my father’s Boeing union dances in Seattle. Lloyd and Doloris were present at all my family’s major events – graduations, weddings, baptisms, parties and funerals.
Lloyd’s kindness and compassion was fully realized in 1990 when my father was in a coma in the hospital. My mom stayed by my dad’s side during the day and I stayed with him at night. Lloyd would come late at night and stay for hours to keep me company. Doloris was visiting a granddaughter in Germany at the time. A year later, I was hospitalized for nearly a month for cancer and my mother was sick and dying from cancer. Her doctor advised her to go into a nursing home but Lloyd and Doloris stepped up to the plate and went to stay at her house with her so she could stay at home. I will never forget that. It was so kind of them. Lloyd is with the angels now and visiting my parents again now. We will miss him.
