Leon Pruitt Horne was born August 20th, 1950 Donaldsonville, GA. He died peacefully in his Tacoma home from a long battle with cancer. Leon's father was a decorated WWII veteran. Leon along with his family moved to Ft. Lewis, WA i Read Obituary

I student taught for Leon in 1979. He was a kind, gentle, powerful mentor. Last I saw him was in 1982 when he came to Fairbanks to do a workshop, but I thought of him often. I just learned of his passing last night. Rest in peace Leon.
My condolences go to the family. Most of all I will miss Leon's great presence when he entered a room. Thanks Leon for the professionalism when I worked in Tacoma, and all the fun memories during some holiday gatherings.

I will never look at the Stadium Bowl without seeing the vision of Leon, strutting across that field at a near 45 degree angle, tall and proud as the drum major for Stadium. He remained that tall and proud vision for his students and other educators for many years. Thank you Leon, for the gift of your presence on this earth.
Leon was a drum major for education as well as the best drum major to march the field of Stadium HS (my opinion only), class of 1968. He will truly be missed. Bennie (Jackson) Collier

Leon was a wonderful educator who had compassion, very supportative and a person who touch every educator heart in Tacoma School District. He will be deeply missed may his light continue to shine on those he impacted and may his legacy continue to live on.
