Leon Buchanan's Obituary
Leon Buchanan, 68, went to be with his Lord on July 3, 2019. He was born in Jackson, TN on August 14, 1950, the son of James and Junetta (Parker) Buchanan.
Leon was a Salesman and Account Executive by trade, which meant he loved meeting new people. No one was a stranger to him, and it came naturally to be able to talk with anyone at length. He was a man of strong faith and had a love for his church back in Tennessee, New Hope Baptist Church. Nothing was more important to Leon than his beautiful wife, Jackie, and his family. The couple were married on February 19, 1971 in Corinth, Mississippi, and together raised their three children. Leon was a true patriarch of the family, taking pride in his children and grandchildren and being able to provide for his family. He adored his wife with a love and admiration not found often today and was a true example of what a father should be to his children. Leon also had a great sense of humor. His laughter and smile will be missed by those that knew and loved him.
Leon is survived by his beloved wife, Jackie (Williamson) Buchanan; his children, Marlette Buchanan, Marlon (Adriana) Buchanan, and Michael (Elise) Buchanan; three grandchildren, Omari, Elián, and Tanner. Leon was one of 10 children in his family and grew up with his brothers, Harvey, Harold, Wayne, Anthony, James L., Lloyd and Charles, and his two sisters, Sandra Merry-Woods and Dorothy Walker.
A funeral will be held at 12 noon on Friday, July 12, in the Garden Chapel at Mountain View Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 4100 Steilacoom Blvd. SW, Lakewood. Burial will follow in the park.
