My parents met Lela and Jim when my dad was in the Air Force and based in Washington. When dad got out of the Air Force, Jim, Lela, Pam, and Kathy (Rita) came out to Virginia to Visit. I'm think I was around 6 or 7 yrs old at that time. I remember we all went to Jamestown Colonial Williamsburg, we went swimming in the pond down the road, and we went and show them the World's Largest Loblolly Pine, which was only 4 miles from our home here in VA. That was a big attraction for our country town. I was young at the time of there visit put I still remember it just like it was yesterday. Lela was and is a sweet lady. It's been 45 yrs since I saw Lela. I sure wished we could have had a visit again. May you Rest in Peace.
Mom loved listening to country music with her sister Betty Palmer and visiting. She also loved spending hours watching the humming birds and other birds that visited the numerous bird feeders that my sister Pam always kept full. Her great grand kids William, (Sammy passed 4 years ago but he could always make her smile), Emma and Brooklyn always brightened her day when they would come for a visit
