Larry A. Edison's Obituary
Larry Alvin Edison, 81, of Tacoma, died on January 24, 2018 after a short bout of streptococcus pneumonia.
Born in Aberdeen, Washington, Larry was the son of Karold and Agnes Edison. He graduated from Weatherwax High School. He earned his B. A. in Mathematics from Whitman College and completed his Ph.D. in 1964 at Stanford University.
He taught at Reed College in Portland, Oregon, then at Alma College in Alma, Michigan, eventually retiring from Pacific Lutheran University after 16 years.
Larry is survived by his wife of 57 years Diane Minkler Edison and his four sons: Christian and his wife Anna, Ransom, Jeffrey and his wife Isabelle, and Todd and his wife Carrie. He has eleven grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Carol and brother Tom.
A Memorial Service honoring the life of Larry will be held 4:00 p.m. Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Immanuel Presbyterian Church, 901 N J St, Tacoma, with a reception following in the Fellowship Hall.
Memorials may be made to Tacoma/Pierce County Habitat for Humanity or to the speaker series at Immanuel Presbyterian Church.
