There are many great memories to share about our dad. I appreciated how he gave us spelling tests every Friday before we were in kindergarten. We became advanced readers, and he made it fun. He taught us how to ride our bikes without training wheels and helped us learn to skate. He took us to the park to shoot baskets on the basketball court. I loved our times at the Puyallup Fair and Enchanted Village (he and our mom made sure we went to both twice each year). Drive-in movies were a norm. Both me and my dad were night owls so I would stay up with him and watch old movies like “Gone with the Wind”. He put a love of good R&B music in us. When we were teens he would take us to and pick us up from games, concerts, and dances. He attended all of our after school events. He helped with school projects. He took us to play video games. Our Christmases were amazing (some would say my sister and I were a bit spoiled).
As an adult, I loved the times we would go to his favorite restaurants (Olive Garden and Applebees) and we would talk about the Seahawks, basketball, etc.). We went to the movies. I enjoyed talking on the phone with him about the news. My sister and I used to take him to the grocery store and we called that “Daddy Day”. After work I would sometimes visit him at the cafe on the first floor of his old apartment building. Our chats were nice. He even made sure as adults that we were okay financially. He called us independent women (lol). You, dad, helped us to value hard work and become the women we are.
There are so many things I’m thankful to my dad for. So many good memories I thank God for.
We thank you, Daddy, for the good things you’ve done. We love you, and may you rest easy. 💜
