Kumiko Sato Hilario's Obituary
Kumiko Sato Hilario, age 80, of Lakewood, WA. passed away peacefully on January 5, 2006. She was born on April 11, 1925 in Niigata, Japan. She came to the United States 50 years ago, living in California and settling in Lakewood since 1961. Kumiko, a dedicated homemaker; loved cooking, knitting & crocheting, sewing, her pets, gardening and spending time with her family. Kumiko has participated in several events of the American Cancer Society Relay for Life as a Breast Cancer Survivor.She proudly received her High School diploma (GED) from Fort Steilacoom Community College in 1981 at the age of 56. Kumiko, a 44-year member of Sokka Gakkai International, was one of the original pioneer members.Her husband, Marcelo Hilario, preceded her in death. Survived by a brother and a sister, Japan; her only child, a son, Sadao James Hilario with the US Army Corps of Engineers, who just recently returned from a one-year tour in Afghanistan and daughter-in-law, Ann Marie Holz Hilario, Enumclaw, WA; 3 grandsons, Micah Joseph Hilario and wife, Amy, Vancouver, WA; CPL Justin Sadao Hilario, USMC, Baghdad, Iraq and Kevin Sato Hilario, Seattle, WA.A memorial (Celebration of Life) will be held at the Garden Chapel in the Mountain View Funeral Home, on January 14, 2006 at 1pm (4100 Steilacoom Blvd SW, Lakewood, WA 98499). A reception will follow. Inurnment will be private at Mountain View Cemetery.
