Kermit Gerald Berge's Obituary
Kermit Gerald Berge, the only child of Palmer and Geraldine Berge, was born February 10, 1948 in Walla Walla, WA, passed away peacefully with his wife by his side on October 9, 2022 in Tacoma, WA. At the age of 5, the family moved to Tacoma where Kermit later graduated from Wilson High School in 1966. After high school, Kermit joined the Army, served 18 months in Vietnam (1968-1970), and then finished his military career at Fort Rucker in Alabama. While in Alabama, he met and married the love of his life, Corene Miller, on June 30, 1970 in Andalusia, AL. The couple moved to Tacoma, Washington in 1971. Kermit spent 30 years working for the Tacoma School District; the last 5 years as the Security Supervisor. In his retirement he enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling, and hanging out with his friends, which he always said were his extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents and his two yorkies, Maggie May and Amy Sue. He is survived by his wife, Corene, his pride and joy, his heartbeat, the love of his life for 52 years and their yorkie, Aly; sister-in-law, Gladys Mott; brother-in-law, Wayne Miller; his special nieces: Laverne Frye, Jill Sykes (Steve), Tammy Jean Gauthier (Ryan), Delaine Miller; his nephew, Jessie Miller; adopted family Robert and Debi Lomnick; best friend, Joe (Phyllis); as well as many other nieces, nephews, and special friends.
The family would like to extend their gratitude for the care given by the 10th floor nursing staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
A graveside service will be held at Mountain View Funeral Home, 4100 Steilacoom Blvd. SW, Lakewood, WA 98499 on October 18, 2022 at 1:30 PM . In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to his friend Joshua’s special Olympics team: Sound Athletics, 3801 N 27th Street #6921, Tacoma, WA 98407.
