Kenneth Royce Hansen's Obituary
Col.Kenneth R. Hansen
Kenneth Hansen MD, 81, of Lakewood, WA. passed away on
4-27-18. Born July 13th, 1936 in Idaho Falls, ID. Kenneth was a
retired physician and Navy/Army Res. Colonel. He was a
beloved husband, father, friend, mentor, fisherman, pilot,
gardener, collector, cowboy, and story teller. Kenneth is survived
by his wife of 50 years, Genevieve, and by a large immediate
family which includes his son Kenneth R. Hansen II, stepsons
Nicholas J. Vagianos, Theodore P. Vanos, David N. Vanos MD,
stepdaughter Anne Gilbert-Rolfe, sons Mark Hansen, David
Hansen, and daughter Melanie Hansen, brothers Randall Hansen,
sisters Marlene, Cheryl and Ina, and 12 grandchildren and 1 great
grandchild. He is preceded in death by son Eric A. Hansen.
Kenneth graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1954 and
attended Utah State University in Logan, Utah, graduating in
1959. He went on to obtain his medical degree from George
Washington University in 1964. Kenneth proudly served in the
Navy during Vietnam on the USS Repose. After discharge in 1968
he began his family practice in medicine in Lakewood, WA and in
1980 began an anesthesiology practice and continued until his
retirement in 2003. He and his wife loved to travel, have social
gatherings, dinners out with close friends, and loved time spent
together with family on Gravelly lake. Celebration of life and
service will be held at the Mountain View Celebration of Life
Center Aspen Chapel Friday, May 4th at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers
please consider a donation to the Wounded Warriors Project,
Kenneth’s preferred donation group. He will be missed…forever
