I worked with Krusty for many years at Alaska Airlines and he was known for two things - telling stories and talk, talk, talking all of the time about a host of subjects but mostly about politics or climate change. One day, Krusty and I were the only ones in the office. He was going off about what he believed was some dumb politician and he got a call on the radio from a Mechanic requesting that he look up a Maintenance Manual Reference on his computer for the job he was working. Staring straight at his computer and researching the requested reference, he never stopped talking about that stupid politician or looked around. I then left the office to go to an aircraft that I had been assigned to and returned about 15 minutes later only to find that no one but Krusty was in the office and that he was still talking about that stupid politician while staring at his computer not knowing that no one was in the office to hear his views. He would let you know exactly where he stood whether you wanted to know or not. We have a lot of clowns and jokers in our work location and for that reason some of the guys would simply walk into the office if Krusty was on shift, throw out a current subject on the news that they knew he didn’t like and then walk out of the room knowing that Krusty would bite. He would start out with “Oh for Heaven’s Sakes” and then start debating the subject out loud. You could return to the office an hour later and he would still be raging about. Many of the guys thought this was fun. Krusty was an excellent Lead Mechanic who was very knowledgeable, fair and always backed up his Mechanics if there was a conflict. Every Mechanic knew where they stood if Krusty was on your crew. They had a loyal and honest friend and supporter when they worked with him. I am one of those.
