Kay Murland's Obituary
Kay Murland
Kay Murland, a lifelong resident of Tacoma, WA was born 11-19-37 and died suddenly at the age of 72. Kay was preceded in death by her parents, Geraldine and Gordon Murland. Kay grew up in the same house as her grandparents and parents, and lived there her entire life until a sudden illness brought her to Narrows Glen, where for the past three years she called home. Kay was employed for two months short of 40 years at the Tacoma Public Library System; she then retired to a life of leisure.
Kay was a shy, gentle woman who has been known to go out of her way not to step on a ladybug crawling on the ground. Kay loved to garden and get her hands dirty. She loved all animals and birds, big and small, especially her black furry companion of many years, Misty the kitty. She loved eating out, but loved to cook breakfast for herself. Kay often took long day trips and overnighters with her two friends. She enjoyed going especially to Mt. Rainier and Hood Canal. Kay also loved riding through Pt. Defiance Five-Mile Drive at dark with her two traveling buddies, Candy and John, whom she often referred to as the Three Musketeers, and counting as many raccoons and deer as she could find.
Come celebrate the life of Kay Murland with us at a funeral service in the Garden Chapel, Mountain View Funeral Home, 4100 Steilacoom Blvd. SW, Lakewood, at 12:00 PM on Thursday, June 7, 2012. A reception lunch will follow the service. Memorial donations may be made to the Point Defiance Zoo.
