Kathryn M. Grassi's Obituary
Kathryn M. Grassi passed away on September 16, 2005, surrounded by her family. She was born to Eva and Samuel Caldwell on August 18, 1924 in Castle Rock, WA. Kathryn is preceded in death by her parents, five siblings, and her beloved husband, Nello Grassi. Kathryn is survived by four sons, David, Dan (Suzanne), Nello, and Dale (Mary); daughter-in-law Dorynne; four grandchildren, Caitlan, Nicholas, Kymberly, and Justin; as well as several great Â-grandchildren.For Kathryn and Nello, family was the center of their lives, and food was the center of the family. Born from these passions was the Pizza Casa Restaurant which they opened in 1958; and establishment celebrating family and fine Italian food. Kathryn continued to operate the restaurant for many years after NelloÂ's passing in 1986.After retiring, Kathryn enjoyed family, the companionship of her friends, her bowling league, and without a doubt was the most loyal of Mariners fans.The Grassi family is a large and loving extended family. Kathryn and Nello did not believe family was defined only by birth or marriage. They considered their lifelong friends to be family and we have been blessed that our friends have embraced us as family. Though too numerous to mention here, Kathryn considered you family and she loved you all.One of KathrynÂ's newest grandchildren noted Grandma is now a star in the heavens. She has always been and will always remain our beacon, our light, and surely the brightest of stars.Services will be held at 3:00 PM Monday, Sept 19, 2005, in the Mountain View Garden Chapel. Private Entombment will be held in Calvary Cloisters.
