Karl Weldon Berg's Obituary
Karl W. Berg Karl Weldon Berg was born on January 9, 1916, in Aledo, Illinois. He passed away on December 22, 2002, in Lakewood. Karl married Joan Johnson in 1943 before serving on Iwo Jima as a Marine in World War II. He attended Augsburg College and Augustana Lutheran Seminary in the midwest, and was a missionary to Japan in 1952-56. He started a parish in San Bruno, CA. and served as Protestant Chaplain at the VA Medical Center at American Lake until his retirement in 1978.Karl was a member of the Oakbrook Golf & Country Club, the Air Force Association, the Military Chaplains Association and Christ Lutheran Church. A memorial service will be held at Christ Lutheran in Lakewood at 1pm on Saturday, December 28.Karl was preceded in death by his son David. He is survived by his wife Joan, sons Cameron and Brian, brother David, granddaughters Ingrid, Elizabeth and Natalie, and daughters-in-law Gay and Joyce.
