Karen Lynne Samples' Obituary
Karen Lynne (Huxford) Samples was born 9/28/1957 in Bremerton, Washington and went to be with the Lord January 4, 2017. She lived in Germany, Oregon, California, Arizona and Alaska, but her home base was in Washington with her family. She is the daughter of Marjorie Jean Reed and Herbert Floyd Huxford. She has three sisters Heidi, Raven and Amy, and five brothers Herb, Cameron, Patrick, Mark and Joe. Karen also had numerous nieces and nephews whom she was proud of. Karen loved her puppies, Maggie, Wally, Ruby, and Baxter. You rarely found her without them.
She loved music, art, decorating, painting, flowers and working in her garden. Karen was adventurous, including going white water rafting, skiing in Alaska, fishing, going on many trips, and she loved to dance. Karen was a peer counselor in high school and was also on the debate team.Karen Excelled at her work, and was regularly recognized for her ability in sales, communication and service because of her diligence and attention to detail with both customers and fellow employees. Karen loved her family dearly. She loved spending time with them and looked forward to every opportunity to fellowship with them, opening her house to have others over, or going to visit them. Karen loved telling stories of helping to raise her siblings that brought much reminiscing and laughter to all.She was always willing to give advice, discuss, or set you straight about anything with family. (Sometimes more than we were ready for).
The discussions that were most important to her were about Christ.
Karen wanted her family to know about the relationship she had with her Savior, of her joy from that relationship, and she wanted every member of her family to have that same relationship with the Lord. Karen was unapologetic about this, she did not want any of her family to be missing from Heaven, but for them all to be there with her someday. Karen was convinced that the Lord is coming soon and regularly read her Bible and studied God’s Word.
It is only appropriate to include 2 Peter 3:8-10 “But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” This is truly what Karen desired, knowing that the passage continues with…“But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare”
A celebration of Karen's life will be held Sunday, January 22 at 3:00 in the Aspen Chapel, followed by a reception in the Oak Room.
