Josephine Burkholder Hadfield
(1917 - 2014)
Was born March 11, 1917 in Twin Falls, Idaho to Clayton and Leah Burkholder. She died February 9, 2014. After graduating from Twin Falls High school, she earned a degree from the Salt Lake General School of Nursing in 1935. On June 30, 1940 she married Dr. Dale Hadfield with whom she raised five children: Virginia LePore, Sue (George) Terhaar, Dale (Gina) Hadfield, Scott (Chris) Hadfield, and Jody (Greg) Born. Her family was further gifted with seven grandsons and eight great grandchildren. Josephine was a devoted wife, wonderful mother, grandmother, kind caregiver, active volunteer, artist, sculptor and pilot. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Dale, her parents, four sisters and a brother. The Hadfield family is especially thankful for the amazing care and love of the staff at Sound Vista Village in Gig Harbor and the hospice workers. Remembrances can be sent to the Franciscan Hospice program or the Summit Avenue Presbyterian Church at 403 South Summit Ave., Bremerton, WA 98312. Private family services will be held later.
