Joseph Richard Sabourin's Obituary
MSG Joseph R. -Å"Richard- Sabourin (retired), 68, died Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at his home in Lakewood. He was born in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada on October 21, 1941. He graduated high school in Canada and went on to receive his BA degree in Maryland and his Master's degree in law enforcement in Alabama.
Richard served two terms in Vietnam, receiving the Bronze Star, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry and the Meritorious Service Medal retiring after 20 years. While he was stationed in Korea, Richard met and married Sin Ok Pak on January 31, 1967 in Seoul, Korea.
Richard began his second career as a Correctional Officer for the Pierce County Sheriffs Department. He retired after 16 years because of ill health.
Richard's interests included home projects, golfing and riding horses. His family and friends will miss his kind spirit, great conversations and calming ways. Sin was blessed and honored to have such a great husband and friend.
His survivors include his loving wife, Sin; two sisters, Lucy and Linda; five brothers, Maurice, Jack, Paul, Clifford and Ronnie.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 am, Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at St. John Bosco Parish followed by a graveside scheduled for 2:15pm at Tahoma National Cemetery. Visitation is from 1pm to 9pm Tuesday at Mountain View Funeral Home.
