John W. Conner's Obituary
John W. Conner was born in San Francisco, California on September 13, 1921, and passed away on June 23, 2005. He is survived by his beloved wife Marie, daughters Carol Harrington (Joe), Lora Conner, and Linda OÂ'Keefe (Tony), and grandchildren Stephen, Lorisa, John, and Lauren. He is also survived by his cousins, and his best friend since childhood Charles Dowden, all in CA. He was preceded in death by his parents Clyde and Lora Conner, whom he adored.John was always full of fun and adventure, from his youth to the present. He enjoyed his days as a lifeguard at the beach in Santa Cruz, CA, and his service with the US Forest Service. At the age of 18 he joined the Army, where he served as a medic. He then enlisted in the US Air Force, where he served for 26 years, first as a firefighter and then as the Administrative Officer for the 318th Fighter Squadron. He enjoyed traveling, and was glad his military career took him to many countries throughout the world. He was proud to be a volunteer firefighter for the Lakewood Fire Department in the 1960Â's.John loved fishing and was a fishing expert, whether it be fly-fishing, or fishing in a lake, river or ocean. He also loved golf, camping, boating, playing cards, the SF 49Â'ers and the Mariners.He loved the staff and his friends at his favorite restaurant, BurÂ's in Lakewood. Thank you so much for your kindness to him. It meant more than you can ever know.Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 2nd, in the Mt. View Garden Chapel with full military honors.
