John Fugich Jr.Chief Warrant Officer US Army, Ret.John was born in Monongahela, PA to John Fugich Sr. and Helen Fugich on September 18, 1915 and went to our heavenly Father January 11, 2004. He was a son, brother, soldier, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.Dad did not possess the typical, standard traits we envision in our heroes, yet he was one. He fought in two wars, without question, provided a home for his family and filled it with love, rules, laughter and most of all security. He was not flamboyant in his attitude yet he was a leader by following the attitude: Do as I do Â- Not as I say.Dad served as a combat soldier throughout the entire European theater of WWII and then again in the Korean War and was always very proud to be an American.He was member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Yelm, WA. John was also a 32nd degree Mason and member of State Lodge for 53 years. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lyla Fugich, son Jerry Fugich (Betty), daughter Carla Fugich Smith (Scott), sister Julia Crossman, brother Michael Fugich (Doris), 8 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. John was a soldier and wanted to assist his comrades in arms. His family, at his request, asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to: The Army Emergency Relief Fund (Dept. of the Army, 200 Stovall St. Alexandria, VA 22332). DadÂ's funeral will be held at Mt. View Funeral Home Wed. Jan. 14, 2004 at 2pm in the Garden Chapel. There will be a reception at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Yelm, WA following the service.
