J. Allan Berglund
Allan Berglund, 84, of Tacoma, Washington passed away on September 19, 2018. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Angela Berglund, son Mark (Sandy) Berglund, daughter Lisa Berglund, and grandchildren Chris (Haley) and Lauren Berglund.
Allan was born February 9, 1934 in Maracaibo, Venezuela to Ann and Herman Berglund. He graduated from Stadium High School in Tacoma, and University of Washington’s School of Business. After graduation, he spent time in both the US Army and Army Reserves.
After leaving the military in 1958, he joined his father at Washington Floral Service, which he operated for the next 60 years. During this time, he invested his leadership skills in industry associations throughout the country, including WF & FSA, Northwest Florists Association, and International Floral Distributors.
A lifelong member of the Covenant Church, Allan held numerous leadership roles, including trustee and ministry expansion. He was active in Youth for Christ, serving on the board for many years.
Throughout his life Allan was the consummate investor—in time and in treasure. He invested in his friends and family with love and kindness, in his church with leadership and commitment, and in his employees with support and encouragement. His life was an investment in others.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, October 3rd at 2:00pm at Praise Covenant Church, 3501 S Orchard St, Tacoma.
