J. Allan Berglund Allan Berglund, 84, of Tacoma, Washington passed away on September 19, 2018. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Angela Berglund, son Mark (Sandy) Berglund, daughter Lisa Berglund, and grandchildren Ch Read Obituary
I've been friends with Mark Berglund since 1974, and it is through that friendship that I came to know his dad. It profoundly saddens me to know that Mr. Berglund (when one is taught as a child to refer to their elders with respect, it is not something easily changed as an adult) is gone from us, but I am even more sorrowful for the family. May you all continue to find strength in God as well as from each other.
With a quick smile and a VERY firm handshake Allan would always take time to pause from the task at hand and have a visit. For he and I, we always ended up discussing the state of the industry. More than running his own business he kept abreast of what was happing in the big picture and how it affected his costumers.
My fondest memory is a time when I presented a program at the WF&FSA convention.
Allan was president of WF&FSA that year, so it was his duty to introduce the presenter.
From my perspective it felt as though he introduced me like a proud father.....the local designer, his colleague and friend, so warm, so Allan.
Some people touch many lives, Allan did. He’ll be missed by many, he was one of the good ones.

I only met Allan a couple times but I fondly remember him from my first "industry" trip. Ed and I went to Seattle when we first joined IFD, back when the members hosted in their town. Allan made a special point to welcome us and was very gracious. As the week progressed, I was inspired by his enthusiasm for his company and the industry. That led to a number of productive years working with IFD and Mark and Sandy. My sympathies to all.
Allan was a kind man with a gentle spirit. My husband, Charles, and I got to know him at our floral wholesaler, Washington Floral Service, during the years we owned Love Me Now Floral Design, in the heart of historic Steilacoom. Even though we were a small, independently owned shop, Allan always made us feel welcome. He treated us fairly and equally with all of the many different and much larger floral retailers, who shopped for supplies at Washington Floral Service. Allan was inclusive and genuine in his desire to help. The staff he built at Washington Floral worked hard all the time, but were approachable and helpful, always with a personal touch. We are grateful for the network of management and employees at Washington Floral Service. Allan Berglund was a great man. I can only imagine the beautiful floral designs that will be created to honor him.
