As kids, I considered John a best-friend. In recent years we met far too seldom. But when we did, it was always a time to savor! His creative intellect, humor, and openness to ideas, big and small, made an hours conversation memorable across years. I learned of John's passing yesterday at the 97th Annual Lincoln Day Banquet. My prayers are with the family. I worked as a prosecutor in Judge Feutz's courtroom at the City of Lakewood. I first met John during the "CITYHOOD" effort in 1995. He was a supporter and encouraged all of us to "press on" in our efforts. On achieving Cityhood, John became our first City Judge, helping stand up our Court on the same day we Incorporated--a real feat. Over the years as I would see John I was always struck by the fact that he was always smiling-and that made others smile also.
