Joanna Kay Massey
Born May 14, 1938, passed away after a 17-year battle with congestive heart failure in Tacoma, WA on May 10, 2017.
Joanna moved to Tacoma for health reasons when she was very young where she later met and married Roy D. Massey, who preceded her in death after nearly 49 years of marriage.
Joanna was a homemaker who excelled at serving others with unwavering, unconditional love. She was known to many as Mom or Grandma. All who met Joanna loved her and were loved and accepted by her. Joanna had a love for ice hockey and race cars. Every Sunday she would be at church (Tacoma First Church of the Nazarene) unless she was attending a hockey game or the Indy 500 was on TV.
Joanna is survived by her 3 sons, Dale, Michael and his son Gavin, Gary (Renee) and his 3 children, Craig, Brent and Megan, 1 daughter Terenna (Lon) Eggebroten and their children Hans, Erik and Tauvia, 1 brother Leonard (Cindy) Lakin and 1 sister Ruth (Dale) Leman and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at Mountain View Funeral Home, Lakewood. Viewing is May 18 from 12–8PM. Funeral service May 19 at 10:00AM (Aspen Chapel), with a reception to follow. Private burial at Tahoma National Cemetery.
