Joan D. Carter's Obituary
Joan D. Carter Joan D. Carter born January 25, 1938 and passed away on August 11, 2004 at St. Clare Hospital in Lakewood. Being the warm, loving and friendly person she was, she will be missed by many. Joan was born in New Rochelle, NY, but made her home for more than 30 years in Lakewood. She leaves her two children, daughter Deborah L. Carter serving in the U.S. Army and stationed in Germany; son Willie J. Carter and daughter-in-law, Tina Fox Carter of Long Beach, CA; together with her long time companion Charles Gilchrist. She was a recent retiree from the Veterans Hospital at American Lake and was working part-time at the University Place Care Center. She is survived by her mother Ola Mae Phillips of New York and her brothers Tommy and Karl Clegg of New York, and two sisters Debbie Clegg of New York and Karen Clegg of Maryland and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. A viewing will be held on Monday August 16, 2004 from 1-9PM at Mt. View Funeral Home. Services are on Tuesday, August 17, 2004 at 1:00PM in the Mt. View Garden Chapel. The family would like to thank Kathy Miller and her staff at University Place Care Center for all their support.
