Janice Ann Dods' Obituary
Janice Dods, of Sumner, went to be with her Lord on December 15, 2003. Born in Tacoma, she graduated from Fife High School and received a degree in Landscape Design from South Seattle Community College. She owned and operated Â"Landscapes By JanÂ" in Tacoma and the Lake Tapps area and designed many beautiful gardens in the Puget Sound area.She was a member of Washington State Nurseryman and Landscapers Assn. and held various offices. She designed award winning gardens at the Northwest Flower and Garden Show in Seattle for several years. She designed an award winning oriental garden at Lakewold Gardens for Junior League. Her gardens were featured in Better Homes and Gardens Magazine. She was a former manager of the nursery at Edgewood Flower Farms and designed gardens at the Western Washington Fair.She is survived by her husband, James; sons, Phillip and Craig of Tacoma; one grandson; mother, Inez Shearer; brothers, Steve of Phoenix and Jeff of Tacoma, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.Preceding her in death were her father, Rodney Shearer, and sister, Julia Shearer.She was a member of the Tacoma Historical Society and was on the review board as a landscape design representative.Janice will be remembered for her strong Christian faith, her caring for others, and her love for the outdoors. She will be greatly missed by many.The family wishes to express their appreciation to Dr. Frank Senecal.Remembrances may be donations to World Vision of Federal Way.A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, December 23, 2003, at the Mountain View Celebration of Life Center, 4100 Steilacoom Blvd SW, Tacoma.
