Janet L. Selner's Obituary
Janet Selner, born May 5, 1936, in South Bend, Indiana, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2026, in Fircrest, Washington. Janet lived a joyful, engaged life filled with family, travel, and the hobbies she loved.
A devoted and highly skilled bridge player, Janet achieved the rank of Bridge Life Master, a milestone that opened doors to tournaments with top‑tier competitors—including well‑known business leaders, public figures, and celebrities. She treasured the challenge, the camaraderie, and the stories that came from those unforgettable tables.
Janet also had a natural gift for interior design and enjoyed staging homes, bringing warmth and style to every space she touched.
She shared 57 wonderful years with her husband, George Selner, and together they raised five children. In their later years, they enjoyed many travels. Of all their adventures, New Orleans, Louisiana, remained their favorite destination.
Janet is survived by her children—Lu Scott, Lea (Mark) Shearer, Alan (Linda) Selner, Amy Selner, and Sally Kelly; her grandchildren—Jacob Scott, Sam Scott, Cindy Shearer, Zac Selner, Jenalea (David) Burnette, Michael Kelly, and Kennedy Kelly; and five great‑grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, George.
She will be remembered for her kindness, her quiet elegance, and the love she gave so generously.
