James, born October 25, 1934, went home to be with the Lord on October 6, 2008. James was born in Chester, PA to Eugene Braxton and Viola Waters-Hyson. After graduating from Chester High School, he went into the United States Air Force. Following his tenure in the service, he began his new career as a bus driver for Pierce Transit. He was most known for his ability to relate to the passengers on bus #52. After retirement, he spent his final years on -Å"no one's time schedule.- He was a -Å"man on a mission,- leaving good memories for all those he loved, helped, and met. He knew no strangers. He was a humanitarian, generous, a lover of people, and gifted to meet the needs of the challenged. He enjoyed the simple things in life while spending time with family and friends. Most of all, he loved the Lord. -Å"Mission Accomplished.- He is preceded in death by both parents, along with his siblings Jeannette and Jerry Carter. He is survived by his sister Betty Carter (Philadelphia, PA), children Marvin M. (Beckie) Boyd, James M. (Sharlene) Boyd, Toni V. (Mark) Boyd- Torterotot, Darcel M. (Larry) Boyd-Carter, Faith E. Boyd, and friend Darlene Boyd; grandchildren Robert K. (Cindy) Boyd, James D. (Rosemary) Boyd III, Markus N. Torterotot, Hadassah G.F. Boyd, Sarah F.N. Torterotot, John N. Boyd, Joshua E. Boyd, Darlene E. Carter, Danee T. Torterotot, Darcel R.F. Carter, Marvin W.M. Boyd, Kimberlee K. Boyd, Marcell, and Nerrisa; great grandchildren Justin Boyd, Linheyeah E.M. Boyd, Dylan Boyd, Tyler Boyd, Amari G. Torterotot, and James G. Boyd IV; (Fontaine Cousins) Herman, Pearl, and Kathleen (Chester, PA), Rev. Leon and Evelyn Frisby (Chester, PA); and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. He will be greatly missed.
James will be remembered at his home going celebration on Saturday, October 11, 2008 at 11:00 at True vine COGIC located at 5715 North 33rd, Tacoma, WA 98407.
