Mr. Boyd was a good man, just the best person you would want too know, and be your friend. He was a good friend, I would all ways tell him, that he was my Idol, and I meant it, I wanted too live my life just like his. So bless your soul Mr. Boyd, and I send my condolences too your family.

I met Jim in 1988. I was a passenger on his bus Route 54. He was always friendly and joking around. When I became his co-worker I found him to be the same. He was a person that I will never forget. I know that a of lot people will miss him. Deacon Boyd (that's how I knew you all my life.) You always checked up on me when you saw me at Foss Highschool riding the bus and just seeing me when I lived in University Place, I always saw you driving that 52 bus from TCC to Tacoma Mall. I can also recall times when you were so nice when I lost my transfer or didn't quite have $.75 cents to get on the bus! You would also always ask how my mother and father and family were doing and I always appreciated that!
Thank you and your life is truly a legacy.

We were very sorry to see that Jimmy has passed on. Though Joe and Jimmy failed to keep in touch after they both retired, he was one of his best friends at Transit. In fact, when our son, Erik, was in Kindergarten, he had to draw a picture and write about his favorite Black American Hero. Erik chose Jimmy. Then he presented it to him. Jimmy told Joe that he had it above his fireplace. Erik rode Jimmy's school bus to McCarver Elementary. We had become friends and it was a process, we have had our good times and bad times, but the good times out weighed the bad times.
