James Melvin "Jim" Andrews
Jim (Papa) passed away on December 17, 2015 at his home in University Place, WA due to a well fought battle with lung cancer.
Survived by his wife Kate of 48 years, son Paul (Carol), daughter Amy (Dennis) and grandchildren Noah, Madison, Tylor, Emma, & Colton, Sisters Pat (Dary) & Irene.
Born to Wesley and Lucille on September 16, 1942 in Portland, OR. He moved to Lakewood, WA at age 5, graduated from Clover Park High School in 1960. Jim attended University of Puget Sound 1960-1964 where he graduated with a Bachelors of Art Degree. While at UPS Jim affiliated with Theda Chi Fraternity and remained active in Alumni activities til his death.
After serving in the United States Air Force he continued his academics at Pacific Lutheran University studying for his Masters in Law & Justice. Jim retired after 30 years’ service with the Dept. of Correction.
Jim enjoyed family activities such as traveling, camping and bowling. He coached youth bowling for many years. He also enjoyed warm evenings with his family and friends at the Tacoma Rainier's Baseball games.

Although raised in Tacoma his heart never left the high desert of Central Oregon. He especially liked his many years of volunteering at The Oregon Trail Pioneer Camp.
A Celebration of Jim's life will be held on December 30th at 1:00PM in the Aspen Chapel of Mountain View Funeral Home and Memorial Park; 4100 Steilacoom Blvd. S.W., Lakewood, 98499.
