James A. Skog's Obituary
Jim finally rests in his LordÂ's arms and with loved ones. He devoted 41 years to Judy, and leaves children Melinda and Christopher (Tammy), and brother Dennis. His parents, Clarence and Edith Skog, preceded his passing.Always thankful for the gift of steadfast friends and a loving family, his brief retirement was spent comforting the sick and elderly, supporting disaster relief, and assuming church leadership in return for his blessings. He served in finance and trustee positions as well as president of church council.After his birth in Wallace, Idaho, JimÂ's childhood in the Midland area of Tacoma progressed through Boy Scout Troup 84, Franklin Pierce H.S. graduation in 1959, and an Associate Degree from Tacoma Community College.Subsequent to nine years employment with Boeing, he joined the Puyallup Police Department in 1972. Serving as ranking sergeant in patrol, detectives and crime prevention, he received commendation for superior accomplishment as Range Master for developing advanced firearms training programs. Upon retirement he received the gold coin as one of few attaining 30 years service.An avid sports fan, Jim and Dennis cheered the Huskies from reserved seats for over 25 years. Annual Slug Fest and Snail Fest department golf tournaments were highlights in his passion for the game and celebration of fellowship.Family gatherings and China, Hawaii, west coast, and RV vacations provided great pleasure. He delighted in his daughterÂ's nursing and sonÂ's military accomplishments.JimÂ's ever growing faith led to his generous service, and provided courage and grace in the challenges of his illness. His final concerns were for the sadness of his family and JudyÂ's welfare.At 10:30am on Monday, March 27, 2006 graveside services are at Mountain View Memorial Park, and memorial services at 12:00pm at Summit United Methodist Church, 5316 104th St. (104th and Canyon Rd.), Tacoma. In lieu of flowers please honor Jim with donations to United Methodist Committee on Relief given to the church to be forwarded.
