James A. Cameron
Born August 14, 1939 in Tacoma and passed away December 7, 2012. Jim grew up in the -Å"north end-, attended Washington Grade School, Mason Jr. High, and was a proud member of the Stadium -Å"Class of 58-. He attended WSU and Monterey Peninsula College.
He joined the Air Force and served 4 years as a medic in Japan and Las Vegas, and was honorably discharged in 1966. With the help of the G.I. Bill he graduated UPS in 1969 as a member of Sigma Nu. After a short time with Dunn & Bradstreet he was offered a job in Alaska. Living in Juneau, Fairbanks, and Anchorage, he helped organize the Alaska Public Employees Assn. In 1976 he returned to Tacoma, joined the WPEA in Olympia and retired 25 years later as a Sr. Employee Relations Specialist in 2001.
Jim was an honest, reliable (always on time), determined man of principles. He liked to gamble and even got lucky a couple of times. He loved sports and was on the Stadium varsity football and track teams. A special time for him was seeing his letter sweater displayed at the Stadium Centennial.
Jim was preceded in death by his mother Jean Cameron Calison and is survived by his friend and companion of 16 years, Judy Kelley and her family, his walking buddy, Buzz Clement, and many childhood friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, December 15, 2012 in the Mountain View Celebration of Life Center. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Humane Society to acknowledge his love of animals.
