Jack L. Sorge's Obituary
Jack Sorge, 90, a Tacoma resident for most of his life, passed away on April 9, 2006. He was preceded in death in 2001 by his loving wife of 62 years, Leotus. Survivors include his daughter Shirley Eubanks and daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Lee Rowe.He was born in Walla Walla, Washington on January 1, 1916 and later moved to Yakima where he attended elementary school. In 1925 his family moved to Tacoma where Jack attended Jason Lee Junior High and graduated from Bellarmine High School.At eighteen, Jack began a long career at Hooker Chemical Company (later Occidental Petroleum) employed first as a messenger boy and retiring 44 years later as the companyÂ's Industrial Relations Manager. Jack believed a person could do whatever he set his mind to and led his family by this example.Jack will be greatly missed by his grandchildren, Lisa Metzger (Rick), Dina Smaill (Darren), Eric Rowe (Sara), Diedre Baker (Dietrich), and his great-grandchildren Hans, Cody, Kayla, Miranda, Kaitlyn, Brandy, and Darya. In addition he is survived by his niece Elizabeth Shevlin of Santa Ana, California, and several great-nieces and -nephews.A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 19, 2006 in the Mountain View Garden Chapel. The family requests in lieu of flowers, remembrances be made to Providence Hospice of Seattle, 425 Pontius Ave. N. Suite 300, Seattle, WA 98109.
