Irene L. Crase
July 28, 1921 - June 16, 2008
Irene passed away peacefully at home with family.
She served in WWII with the WAAC and the Army Air Corp. She and her mother, Lena, were the first mother-daughter team from New York City to join the Army in WWII.
Irene was a long-time resident of Gig Harbor, where she and her husband, Robert, enjoyed boating with family and friends. They were members of the VYC, TYC, and GHYC. She was an active member of the American Legion, Eagles, and Elks Club. Her career included many years in banking, starting in Lovelock, NV and ending at Peninsula State Bank. After retiring from banking, she worked for the Harbor Inn Restaurant, retiring a second time in 2002. She was an active member of the Altar Guild at St. Columbus and St. Johns Churches.
Preceded in death by her husband Robert Sr. of 50 years and two sons, Rusty and Geoff.
Survived by LeaAnne and Robert Dumezich, Robert Jr. and Kathy Crase, Matt and Donna Schreiber, Fred and Kim Crase, twelve grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Interment will be held at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, WA at 11:30 AM on Wednesday, June 25th.
Remembrances may be made in memory of Irene Crase to the American Cancer Society, Women's War Memorial, and Wounded Warriors Fund.
She will be remembered by family and friends as "Never Having A Bad Day."
