Howard Nathan Neely's Obituary
Howard Nathan Neely was born on December 31, 1928 to John Asa and Jenny Sanders Neely in Manitou, Oklahoma and passed away peacefully on January 16, 2018 in Tacoma, Washington.
Howard grew up in Frederick, Oklahoma and attended Frederick High School. After graduation, Howard joined the Armed Forces in 1947 and later became a Master Sargent in the Air Force. He was stationed in Germany and Vietnam and was honorably discharged in 1970.
Howard married Evelyn Welton in February, 1953 and they lived together in Tacoma, Washington until Evelyn’s death in January, 1987. Howard was granted another chance at love with Doris Hayes Clifton in March of 2004 after reuniting at their Frederick High School class reunion.
During his retirement Howard worked preparing income taxes as well as working on a commercial fishing boat. He was an avid member of a bowling league and enjoyed woodworking. Howard also enjoyed watching his favorite baseball team the Mariners and keeping up to date with local and national news.
Howard is survived by his sister, Lena Groves (94) of Virginia, daughter Paula Fallon and her children Michael, Nathan and Daniel Fallon and great grand-children Makai, Molly and McKenzie Fallon. He is also leaves behind his loving wife, Doris, and her children Treva Bailey and Steve Clifton and his sons Luca and Roman Clifton. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Jenny Neely; sister, Eva McKee, and first wife, Evelyn.
Our family would like to send a heartfelt "Thank You" to the dedicated and caring staff of the Franciscan Hospice Team at Avamere Heritage in Tacoma who looked after Howard with great care in the final months of his life.
Services will be held in the Garden Chapel at Mountain View Funeral Home, 4100 Steilacoom Blvd SW, Lakewood, WA 98499 on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at 11:00 am.
